To the people that are running the Neuspeed sports.I just picked up some Neuspeed sports today and reading the instructions it say's

"NOTE:Honda Prelude 1997>rear bumpstop must be trimmed 1.25"

Does this mean 1997 and on or only the 97's?
I will be using my stock struts.

Thanks,Sam

OK...this is what i don't get

why does neuspeed sport and all eibachs recommend to cut bumpstop and H&R stresses not to!...

me confused!....

oh, and i got a question too.

me and my friend have an argument over bumpstop cutting. he says cutting them will lower your ride period. i say it'll only lower your ride if you're already so low that you're riding on them already.. which isn't a good thing.

who's right?

unless your are using springs that lower pass 2 inches, cutting the bumpstop will not affect ride height...it allows more travel in the shocks...

here's my problem...i had eibach prokit on the car before but now i have stock but my bumpstops were cut...now if i were to drop the car again with H&R sport, what do i do??...since H&R sport say TO NOT CUT BUMPSTOPS!!!!....

how will this affect anything?...do i need to purchase new bumbstops??...they are pricey...$18/ea retail w/o tpc discount!...

Mat is correct. Cutting Bumpstops will not affect ride height, I just allows the Shock piston and rod a bit more travel to compensate for the shorter springs..

The H&R sports probably hit "full block" before cut bumpstops come into play. I'm guessing that's why they say not to cut the bumpstops.. If this is the case you will get a metallic clanging and the coils will collide when you "bottom".. Sounds and feels harsh.

If you never "bottom the car" then the bumpstops probably will never come into play...

i know that cutting the bumpstops allows more travel in the shocks, but if you can lower your car by simply cutting the bumpstops, does that mean that you're riding on them already?

If you are riding on your bumpstops all the time then your springs are doing absolutely nothing.. Might as well take them out..

First off, thanks to the guys that replyed :)
There where a few different opinions so I decided to give Neuspeed's head office in California a call and spoke to a guy in the tech department. He told me to follow the instructions and I SHOULD cut the rear bumpstops 1.25" otherwise the back of the car would'nt lower properly. Also Neuspeed's are not made by H&R anymore, they ended there merger a year and a half ago.He also told me that if I used the Tokio(sp?) or Koni's struts that I wouldn't have to cut the bumpstops,I guess because there a little stiffer??? I went with the Neuspeed's because I like the quality of there products plus I had them on my 92 Si and was really happy with them and there a little softer then the H&R's :)

I could have saved you the call. I talked to Neuspeed, H&R Koni and Tein and KYB directly during my suspension search.

heheh..so sorry if i seem kinda slow, but this is the reason why me and my friend argue so much. why wouldn't the car lower properly if the bumpstops aren't cut?

bakchoi ,I have no idea why? :)
I had them(springs) done today and Im really happy with the look.Got rid of that ugly gap and at the same time they retained the stock comfort rate. Now if my damm spolier and body kit would come in,there backordered from Honda Japan :(
