Er, ok so here's the deal...

For the last little while my dads Accord has been experiencing steering problems. The steering wheel sort of shakes/vibrate while holding it. It's most evident when you make a slow motion either left or right a few degrees. You can almost just feel something not right. That was the ...feeling part of it.

Now physically, the cars front drivers side wheel looked like a little wierd because the hub cap had come off in 2 different spots giving it this wobbly look. Thats it.

At first i attributed this wobble to the warped hubcap/rim, wheels that needed balancing OR at the most a full alignment.

So i told my dad my thoughts and told him i'd personally look into it soon! Blah well he toook it to Ready Honda yesterday (where he always gets work done on the car) before i could get to it and had them look at it. They gave him an alignment and balanced the wheel. Here's the part that pissed me off...

They made him buy a new tire (rubber) too! (2 weeks ago i had asked him if he felt he wanted tires cuz i was getting good prices! i.e our group buy)

Now, excuse my ignorance, but when one of the 2 tires on the front or back of a car are faulty, its' a must to change the both left and right tires correct? So now my dad has a brand new michelin tire on his drivers side, whereas the passneger is nearly 1/4th (in tread) of this new one!? Am i corrrect in assuming that the new tire will wear quickly to match the old one?

I wanna go back there and have a word w/ their service advisor(s) ......but i thought i'd check here first.

Not neccessarily, tires are warranteed/prorated like that all the time, I work in a shop and we do the same thing. The difference in tread is negligable, your talking in tenths of an inch. I understand your concern but they are not responsible for changing two tires just because one was bad. Question: Did your dad have to pay for a whole new tire or did they warranty the old one in which case he only paid for the portion that was used say 25%.
