I'm sure that there are people on PO that arent lying about doing so.
Although I dont recommend it. Should be pretty hard on the tranny

if u get the jrsc, make sure level10 rebuilds ur tranny first.....the tranny wont last with all that extra power...

someone explain to me why the SS tranny is "weaker" than a 5spd. everyone says this but where's the proof? i'm not saying it isn't true, but i've never actually heard any technical evidence of why it's soooo weak.
enlighten us, damnit!

I dunno about weak, but its prone to failure. Many people have posted on po.com about warranty replacements. There's a few people here too who have had problems, I think Jen has... so the theory is if you add more power it will fail sooner...

yup yup, i'm aware of the tranny failure issues, but mine seems to be fine and i've had absolutely no problems with it other than the fact that i'm missing a 5th gear. :D
so all of the talk about SS trannies being generally weaker than 5spds are based on occasional faulty transmissions? i say bah humbug. :D

im on my second tranny, and from what i have researched, if ur a granny driver like most of u probably are, then u r not likely to run into tranny problem...but if you always use the ss mode, downshifting from a high rpm, and bring it to redline and just treat the car like u stole it, then ur gonna run into some probs.....its all about ur driving habits....but there are some cases when the tranny dropped at like 5000 km.....i guess its also luck of the draw
how many of the ss owners had tranny failure???

gee..you think? OBVIOUSLY it'd blow on you. if you treat ANY tranny like that i wouldn't expect it to last too long.
i think one or two SSers here have had tranny probs, but it wasn't abuse-related.
