Keith

Thanks to Jason (an ex-Honda owner turned Subaru guy), he had agreed to let us use his place for another install day. Hopefully, more people will show up this time. Luckily, I don't have anything to really install which means I can offer to help out more. The date is set for Saturday, June 21st, starting at 10am (depending on the workload). Let's start the list of things we have to do again.

Keith -
Oil Change
Transmission Oil Change

James -
Are you getting the bump stops and sway bar this time?

Chris -
Koni Yellow Shocks
AEM Pulleys
Wheels?

Paul -
Header
Exhaust ports?

Jen -
Rear springs?
Front stock shocks?

If anybody needs directions, please PM or email me keith@chillybanana.com.

Keith

UPDATE: We are starting at 10am!

Don't know about either one. I hope I get the sway bar, but I won't count on it.

Order the bump stops fool!

I might try to order the Konis today. I spoke to a guy about the wheels I want and he said "I don't recommend the 225 tires. You need the 215 if you're lowered - they'll rub." I call BS on that. There are a few people out there with 5Gens who have 225/40/18, are lowered, and they never rub. All I'm going with is 225/45/17, with a +48 offset. You guys don't think I'll have any problems do you?
So it's your call - 215 or 225 on a 17x7.5 wheel..... What say you?

Keith
06-11-2003, 08:51 AM
Hey Chris...

215/35-18 is the right size, 225 40 18 will rub.

For 17", 215/40-17 or 205/45-17 is the right sizes.

Here is the reasons why...

Is 215/45 OK? I want some meat on my wheel. I have 2 extremes right now- 18 x 7.5 with 215/35/18 and the stockies with 205/50/16.

17"
215/40-17 = 7.0" - 8.0" Diameter = 23.8
215/45-17 = 7.0" - 8.0" Diameter = 24.6

As long as 215/45 isn't too tall, I'll go that route. Now I need to figure out what kind of rubber I want. Falken Azenis don't come in that size. Maybe I'll get the same as on my 18" - Falken FK-451 GRb. A little noisy, but awesome stick and wear.

Keith
06-11-2003, 09:57 AM
Yeah lots of Luders who have 17" rims run the 215/40-17 tire since it's within spec and there are quite a few options in that size. If you wanted to go with a 45 sidewall, you would have to go with 205/45-17 (it's within spec) but there are few options in that size. 215/45-17 would be too high and you would look like a 4 x 4. What kind of characteristics are you looking from the tire? Road noise? Price? Tread life? Stickiness? Wet performance?

Keith

Chris

Looks like 215/45 is slightly larger than stock diameter, 215/40 is slightly smaller. With the amount of wheel gap I have now, I almost want to go with the bigger tire... unless the konis will drop me down a little more if I use a different perch setting for my H&R's. That's the only way I could go with a smaller than stock diameter for daily driving. Think the Koni's will help?

Keith
06-11-2003, 11:46 AM
Yes, the Konis will help close in the gap since it has 3 different perches. I would go with 215 40 17 tires.

Hey Keith / James - How long and how much trouble would it be for a header?

We did mine. The only ***** was getting the bolts of the cat. We had to slice them off. But it's doable.. no worries. Are you buying it used?

Hey guys and gals!

If anyone loses their directions they can follow this mapquest link(which usually gives pretty good directions) to get some new ones.

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&addtohistory=&address=16824+Sunset+Circle+Dr.&city=Wildwood&state=MO&zipcode=63011&homesubmit=Get+Map

Address is 16824 Sunset Circle Dr
Wildwood, MO 63011

If you get lost:
cellphone: 636-346-6079
homephone: 636-458-6309
My name is Jason.

Also, if you can't make the meet or ever need anything else installed just shoot me an email at thdbnx@aol.com . My garage is open to anyone, almost anytime, always free of course..... just give me a week or so notice.

Cya at the install day!

Jacques

Chris--keep in mind when getting tires is that 215 on one tire is not the same as 215 on another tire. As for the header, the install isn't too bad...when it gets bad is when a bolt (or two) is seized. Nothing that a blowtorch couldn't fix.:D

Keith--I'm hurting on cash...the National Prelude Meet took a dent on the wallet, and I have about $1100 in loans/bills to payoff. So, no buying for a couple of weeks.:(

Jason--wassap!!!

Hey Jason! What ever happened to that guy on ebay who ripped off Dimitri?

Just a reminder that if you are planning on coming to get something installed, prepared to get dirty and wear appropiate clothing! As well, bring some money or food or beer or all of the above! :D

Actually, Dmitry got his money back. He got our local PD(Chesterfield I believe) involved and they took care of everything. He received a cashier's check from the dude's aunt or some other relative last month. :)

Keith

Bastard guy... maybe I'll wash mine tonight them. 10 is cool with me. I can get started on the oil/tranny fluid change. Is there a Honda dealer near there where I can get the tranny fluid?

I think Steven Vincel is the closest. I work really close to there. Do you want me to pick some up for you on my way home??

Keith
06-20-2003, 01:20 PM
If you could that would be nice. I would need 3 bottles of MTF. They should be ~3.75$/bottle. But if you can't no worries... just let me know.

Thanks!

Scratch that - Hueys Honda is on my way home too, and they are only charging $3.77 / qt. Is this cool?

Keith
06-20-2003, 01:47 PM
Yup! Wow... 6.03$/qt? What a rip! Where is Huey anyhow? On Lindbergh?

Makavelli1227
06-20-2003, 01:48 PM
^^yeah i think the one off highway 40...not eh south county one.

Chris
06-20-2003, 02:01 PM
Yeah. I think it's on Lindbergh just west of Plaza Frontenac. Instead of making a right on Lindbergh from Hwy 40, I'll just make a left. I'll get it today for you.

Keith
06-20-2003, 02:11 PM
Where do you live Chris? I think that dealership is just south of me...

Chris
06-20-2003, 02:19 PM

Keith
06-20-2003, 02:27 PM
I live on Page and 270... are we close to each other?

I can run out and get them. Do you need anything?

Chris
06-20-2003, 02:45 PM
We're prob. about 25 min. apart. Maybe around 15 miles.

I don't need anything right now. I do need to order a part for my gauge cluster, but I have to get the part # first - which means I have to take my gauge assembly apart. That's fine - I have to do it anyway. My speedo is sticking. The white-face gauges are almost more trouble than they're worth. I do like the way they look though.

Keith
06-20-2003, 03:21 PM
I picked the MTF up... thanks.

Let me have a look at the speedo this weekend. I'm sure I know what the problem is.

My co-worker is coming tomorrow to... listen to this list...

Man…. My car is pi$$ing me off so bad!

My car problems that started yesterday - I kind of narrowed down the symptoms.

The sound is a “tinny” rattling sound, almost like an old cream-style corn can tied to a string and being dragged on the ground under the engine – BUT LOUDER! It happens when I let off the gas and/or hit the breaks with the car in gear. If I’m in neutral and break, it doesn’t make the sound.

Also I noticed when I turn the key to start the car, it hesitates for about 2 seconds before it does anything.

Lastly when I was coming back from lunch and was breaking for a stop light with the clutch pushed in and hitting the break it almost choked out on me – almost died like it wasn’t getting enough gas. A light even came on but I kept it running by tapping the break.

I hope it’s not a fuel pump issue or I’ll be pissed! I’m wondering if it’s related to my Check Engine/ATTS problem getting worse.

Michael

Plus he wants to do an oil change.

I haven't heard ANYTHING from Paul. I have your door panel/handle. It was a 15 big ones..

Here are some directions from Jason himself...

Coming from 40:
Take the Clarkson/Olive exit, turn left onto Clarkson(south), turn right onto Clayton. Follow that for a couple miles, turn left onto Westglen Farms Dr.(street right before Lafayette HS), left on Oak Crest Manor(3rd left), right on Sunset Circle Dr. My house is 4th on the left.

From 44:
Take the 109 exit, turn right on 109(north) and follow that past Manchester to Clayton Rd. Turn right onto Clayton rd, then right on Westglen Farms Dr.(first right after Lafayette HS), and follow above directions to my house.

From Manchester:
Assuming you're going west on manchester, take a right onto Westglen Farms Dr.(there's a stoplight there). Go through a few stop signs until you enter the neighborhood Tall Oaks. Once you enter Tall Oaks, take the second right(Oak Crest Manor), then the first right(Sunset Circle Dr), my house is 4th on the left.

16824 Sunset Circle Dr.
Wildwood, MO 63011

See ya there peeps!
