Hey guys,
There is a lapping day/course by the Phil Wicks Driving Academy at the Gateway International Raceway on Saturday August 30th, 2003. Here are the details as I know for now.
- $175* for intermediate and experts.
- $275* for novice which includes theory and practical training.
- Everyone can have an instructor with them for a session or two to evaluate and pick up pointers.
- Your car must pass tech inspection (tires, no leaking fluids, brakes, etc).
- SA 95 or higher helmet is required.
- There will be course workers working the flags for our safety.
- Passing allowed only on straights and when signaled by the person getting passed.
- A minimum deposit of 85$ must be given by Tuesday.
* price can go down another 10% - 20% if we acculate enough people.
Who in for this one? I know I am and so is James. If you haven't do track before in your Lude, you are really missing out. Here is where you get to find and hopefully push the limits of yourself and your Lude...
Here is what the course looks like. (it's the infield/road course part)

Maybe we can still squeeze in some last minute people if still interested.

I just need to change one bleeder and bleed the brake line and I'm done.
James, did you meet up with Bill for the video and mount? We should probably test it before track day.

Nope...gotta remind myself to call him. I guess we'll have to alternate using the mount, since we're in the same run group.

Nah, we'll swap on each run. Hopefully we can make some nice cool vids to post online.. Does Bill know how to do that kind of stuff?

Can't find Dan Q's home phone#...he and Chelsea are new parents, as of this past Monday.:) Bud is out of town until Thursday night, so, I posted in solo2.org to see if any other participant has the info. As for attire, I did ask bud this last night, and he didn't know. Attire varies from club to club, so on the safe side, I may just show up in slacks, and bring a pair of shorts if it's allowed.
Bud and I talked at length about the course, tire pressures, suspension setup, etc.

Here's what I got from one of the expert drivers that'll be there...
--------
On track is at 8am. Class session for EVERYONE is 7:40. Registration is at 7(?) and it was suggested that you arrive by 7. Break for lunch around noon.
Parking is in the gravel as the paddock is going to be used for the Novice group. Intermediate cars go on the east side of the garage. Expert and Instructor cars on the west side of the garage.
No polyester or manmade fabrics. Long sleeves, pants and no open shoes.
--------
I'm not sure which side is the "East side...my guess it's the section in front of the tunnel entranceway.

Does that go the same for Passengers?

I would think you'd have to dress appropriately (like the driver). Unless they're going to be lax with regulating that. At the BMW HPDE earlier this year, I was wearing shorts and sandals, and I was a passenger in an F355.

I will not be happy. Laura--Keith and I will be in the garage portion of the paddock, so if it keeps raining, we'll be dry.
Laura

Would still be a good idea to bring the rain coat!
Jacques

Laura, James and I should be heading down there at 6:30am - 7am. We should be on the track the good part of the day. You can call us on our cells (listed in the members section) if you guys want to check in to see where we are.

Keith

That's cool. Laura will have my cell anyhow. Looks like the weather has changed again. Now it's cloudy today with periods of rain and thundershowers. It looks like it might be a semi dry day today.
Hopefully SOMEONE can make their way out to come watch us and go for a food run! :)
