EDIT: Date set. Saturday September 6th, 2003 at Jason's house.

I was just about to make a thread about this....

Does Sept. 6th work for everyone? There might be a party afterwards too.... details on that will be posted later.

Keith

Werd. We don't really need air tools to take an IM off so we can start super early.

Keith
08-19-2003, 05:19 PM
True dat but we are looking at a 4+ hour job... it's just tedious... I bought some gasket remover. I'll get some new OEM gaskets for the TB, upper IM and connecting to the butterfly plate. What do you consider super early?

Chris
08-19-2003, 05:20 PM
Going away party for Jasonsan. YAY!!! You and your family have been so good to let us invade your garage all the time. I'm really grateful for that.

Chris

Keith

We are going to get Jason drunk! :P

Yungimoto
08-19-2003, 05:28 PM
Indeed.....

Ummmm, well, we could start the install friday night or something too.... or start at like 6am? Or do it a different day?

Regarding the party, there's a possibility it will be at a Suby guy named Andrew's place.... he's got a pimpin ass apartment and said he might be having a party the 6th and that it'd be cool to have a going away party during his party. So like, there would be a ton of people there and it would be pretty awesome.

If that doesn't work, we're just going to have it at my place.

Yuppers... it's not that it will give you more horsepower...instead, you'll gain more horsepower and normal operating temps...

Cory, I'll help you one day to install it.. but I don't think we could tackle more than 1 a day. We'll have to see how mine goes.

Cory
08-20-2003, 12:41 AM
Ok, thats fine. I'll buy one but i have no clue as you can tell and a body shop would charge me 75 hour easy for this work. Let see how yours goes but i would like it.

I hope you would take your car to a body shop for engine work anyways.

I don't think I've mentioned it yet, but all I'm going to do besides help wrench Keith's install is replace my ATTS fluid.

Keith
08-26-2003, 12:17 PM
Can you find the page number on the Helms manual so I can read up on it?

It's on page 15-67 (ATTS fluid replacement). I need to read up on it again.

Keith
08-26-2003, 02:38 PM
Doesn't look hard at all. You just need 1 quart of ATF plus new washers. Do you want to do your tranny fluid while we are there?

Keith

Keith
08-26-2003, 02:47 PM
Reading the ATTS inspection steps, it looks like ATTS is like a viscous LSD...

Anyhoo...

The drain plug is on the bottom left... you can barely see it but it's below the big noticable bolt.

The filler bolts is the big huge top bolt facing left...

Did you buy them TJ? Get a tracking number too. How did he send them?

I'll probably do my speed bleeders and bleed my brake system again too.

TJ
08-28-2003, 03:22 PM
I just paid for them and he is shipping them tommorrow

Keith
08-28-2003, 03:50 PM
Ask for a tracking number. Tell him to mark it as a 'Gift' and a 'Used Automotive part'.

Keith <- Canadian who has shipped TONS of stuff to Canada from the US and vice-versa.

TJ

Ok, so here's the deal. Install day will probably end around 7-8.... party will begin like 9pm or something. Party is going to stay at my house.

TJ

Laura
09-03-2003, 05:00 PM
Would there be any way of finding some? that might help a little bit.

TJ
09-03-2003, 06:21 PM
well I dont think I will have my springs, the guy emailed me yesterday and said he got the payment and was gonna send them out asap and I still havent gotten a tracking number from him

Cory
09-04-2003, 12:01 AM
Ok, i think i need to change my oil, so what should i get what kind and how many bottles? I might get brake fluid to not shure. let me know thanks

TJ
09-04-2003, 12:16 AM
I use valvoline durablend. its a mix between regular and synthetic. I usually just buy a case at a time

Keith
09-04-2003, 12:27 AM
Normal or synthetic... get 5W30 with a filter that fits a Honda Prelude with a crush washer. Get 6 quarts (that's 6 small bottles).

If you are doing brake fluid, you'll need about 1 quart of DOT 3 fluid. Try to get one that has at least 500 F boiling point. Apparently Castrol makes one that retains it's boiling point longer than 6 months.

BTW guys, I doubt I'll have the speed bleeders in time for install day.

Keith

Cory
09-04-2003, 01:03 AM
thanks keith...

Oh well. I'll install it one of these days.:)

I use Mobil 1 5W-30 year-round. For brake fluid, I was using Ford's Motorcraft DOT 3, but now use ATE Blue. It's not cheap at between $12-15/quart.

Yungimoto
09-05-2003, 01:37 AM
Word. I'd like to see as many people over at my house as possible.

Ok, install day starts at 8am, people can show up whenever they want. It'll probably last 'til 7 or 8(probably 7 so we can clean up a bit and get ready for party time).

Party time starts at 9pm? Somewhere around then. I'm going to say BYOB just because I don't have a ton of booze money sitting around. You're welcome to bring a couple friends if you'd like.

That's fine... the 8am thing was for everyone else. :)

I figure we can put your car in the other spot since it shouldn't require as much room and let the others use the main garage spot.

That's fine.. I don't think we'll need any air tools anyhow. What do you want for breakfast? Is Rich showing up early too?

Keith

Yungimoto
09-05-2003, 03:29 PM
I'll ask Rich to see what time he's arriving.

Nevermind about using the other spot... my dad is rebuilding the command car carburetor so we can't move it.

What time are you planning on showing up? For breakfast you can get fastfood type stuff if you want(like bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches and hash browns) or donuts.... or not worry about it at all. :)

Jacques
09-05-2003, 03:49 PM
If you guys need an extra hand, gimme a holler. Otherwise, I'm sleeping in and seeing you clowns whenever I get up.:P

Keith
09-05-2003, 04:04 PM
Nah, I think Dimitri is coming too. But Chris said he want's to watch and help out. I plan to document it (as usual) and post the install steps.

Jason, I'll pick up some McD's or Donuts or something... I'll aim for 7:15am. You have gasket remover, right? I picked up a can too just incase.

Yeah... it's just installing an switch on off switch to prevent the ECU from retaining memory.

Does your friend have a camber kit from the front and rear?

Jason, I'm assuming it's BYOB...

Billiam
09-05-2003, 05:52 PM
I'll try to swing by for a bit, but I don't know when. I'll call one of you guys on saturday.

can someone take me there plz!!!! i live 10 min from there max.

Chris
09-05-2003, 08:11 PM
All I have to do is the S2000 steering wheel and my rear strut bar. I'll be there about 7:30 to help Jason and Keith with the gasket. I want to learn and take notes so it's easier to do mine. :)
I guess I can also be the "photo *****" to take pics for a walkthrough FAQ.

Keith
09-05-2003, 08:37 PM
That's enough stuff Chris... You and Laura can share picture duties. Bring you own camera too tho. Are you doing the OBD2 work around too? If so I have to bring another switch and piece of wire.

So correct if I am wrong (anyone) but here is tomorrow's menu...

Keith -
Hondata Insulator Intake Manifold gasket

Chris -
Rear Spoon strut bar
S2000 Steering wheel

James -
OBD2 Workaround

Jen car-
Replace upper rubber washer on front suspension

TJ's friend -
Camber kit
