Stupid p.o.s broke finally last nite. i was so pissed, drove home w/ cold air blowing at me :(. It now slides half way completely loose and half way (cold) w/ force. I think something snapped inside.

I remember way back when someone had posted the cause/fix-it for this problem. I beleive Jen had the proper answer? From what i gauged....i thinkt the lil assembly w/ the spring etc snapped...and if it did, im never gonna find it again.

I need to get this fixed....i cant drive the dang car when its freezing :(.

SO....what parts am i looking to get? how much damage is this going to do to my wallet?

Ah it's easiest thing to fix. Just take the thing apart like how I did it last time when I told u not to touch it but you still did. Then you see that cable connected to the slider thing. Now you can do it the ghetto way and duct tape it or you can buy a new cable (~$12).

Ok if you don't want to do this yet there's a simple solution. Go to near the firewall in the passenger side. You know the center console... right in at corner there you can see a cable that's hooked on to this white plastic thing. Just move the white plastic thing until you have hot air. You won't be able to control the temp from the slider but atleast you'll have heat. So whenever you wanna change the temp just crawl down there and move that thing.

Thats the right idea for now, adjust the lower pivot so the car was pumping heat into the cabin. When you do go to repair it, definitely get a new cable as the original one will probably be a little hacked up. Its cheap so don't skimp.

Also I would spray the valve that directs the coolant into the heater core with some kind of penetrating oil. It tends to get sticky. You can see it using a flashlight looking over the back of the intake and down off the firewall. There is a rod that pokes out of a rubber boot from the cabin.

Careful if you try to fix this in the cold, when you start yanking on the plastic parts of the dash and console, they are prone to breaking and causing you to cuss like a trucker.

Good Luck,

Todd

Yeah the cable that sticks out from the manifold into the back of the intake is stuck. I didn't bother to yank it cuz it looked like a pain to replace. I just left it. Hmmmm maybe i should clean and lube it up.
