PhotoShop question

I was tinkering around last night on making a new sig pic, but I couldn't figure out how to get two images together. I tried layering, but it didn't work. Any ideas?

It wouldn't let me copy and paste a whole image to another one. I basically want to place two full images next to each other, then resize appropriately.

You need to make sure the canvas size is big enough and resize the image before copying it over to the other image. This in turn will create a new layer.

So, I have to resize the image first? But if my intent is to put it next to the other picture (not on top of it), which is supposed to be the same size, would I have to resize the first image as well prior to pasting/importing the second image? Also, I'm assuming the size of the canvas is what I see on the screen initially? That cannot be changed to fit both images (if the images were unedited)?

Man, I need to play with PhotoShop more.:P

Resize the image before copying it over to the other image. Make the canvas space large enough to hold both images.

If both images are the same size it's simple...

Open up the first image.
Double the canvas width.
Copy and paste second picture.
Move to desired spot.
