Does anyone have any instructions or know where I can get some instructions on how to create a sub-fiberglass enclosure for cars? I have a friend interested in it, and who knows if we're successful I might do it for my car.

:peace:
Thanks

Do a search on the net, there are also a few good books out at Barnes and Noble/Borders that could help. It is pretty easy, you build the basic rear frame of the box from wood to ensure acoustics. Then you cut bezels for the subs to mount to, use a router to recess the subs on the bezels, then super glue the bezels to the box in the position you want, then use heavy duty cloth in two or three layers to lay the fiber glass on the box. Following up with a good sanding, some body putty, then another sand job and some paint. It will take a lot of planning and a bit of practice. Oh yeah, I forgot the most important part, wire everything correctly, and install connector plates on the rear of the box using sealant to keep the hole sound proof. Then hook it all up. Also suggested is a custom amp rack in the same finish as the box.

You do realize how much weight that all of the fiberglass and MDF will add?

not that much if you do it right... maybe 12-15 pounds.

It's late now.. but I'll post up a written plan of how I was going to make a removable FG sub-box that sat in the spare tire well when I get more time and am more awake..

Don’t waist your time with liquid, he never dealt with fiberglasing or with making a fiberglass enclosure.

that is the basic place people put a sub that is if they want to keep their trunk looking stock or if they need that space, they put the sub in the spare tire area.

is your friend going all out? and i hope he knows how to fiberglass.
here are a couple of sites, some of my other sites that i have saved are not working anymore.

tell your friend to search on google...........everyones doing it!

I wonder if Jon from axis could make one out of carbon fiber? Ive never seen one but that would be superlight weight. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Never seen one before might be a first but doubtful.
