For those of you who have and ride bikes really hard... be careful. Be VERY careful.
Tulsa - A Broken Arrow man was killed early Tuesday morning after a motorcycle accident on Highway 169 near 81st Street.
Witnesses say the cyclist was going faster than 100 miles per hour when he crashed into the back of a semi truck between 81st and 91st Street at about one o'clock Tuesday morning.
Investigators say evidence shows the cyclist was going about 120 miles per hour at the time of the impact. It took the truck driver more than a quarter of a mile to come to a stop. When he did, he stepped out of his rig and found the motorcyclist dead at the back of the truck.
"The truck driver was not hurt," says Captain Matt Kirkland. "He said that the impact was so strong that he thought he was hit from behind by another truck."
Officers said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident.

I hate to be "that a-shole" that says something like this, but why was the rider doing 120mph at night? and at that speed (bike or car, doesn't matter), I don't know about other people, but I don't take my eyes off the road for a second.
Certainly is an unfortunate accident.

couple of bikers were racing near an apartment complex that I lived in when I was a little kid. They missed a turn, hit one of the apartment buildings and their fate was the same as this guys, except their head were jammed into brick. sad memories. This is why I have yet to buy a bike regardless that A. I have my license and B. I've taken 2 safety/riding courses.

my only problem with bikes, is that you havge no real protection and 90% of the general driving public is morons. So even if you do everything right there is still some idiot who is either riding your ass or going to hit you. Oh and just for fun since this was basically what my final was the other day. Manner of death is an accident. Cause of death is probably going to be massive blunt force trauma.

Report Conclusions: Findings from the FARS (Fatality Analysis Reporting System) data illustrate possible reasons for motorcyclist fatalities in single vehicle motorcycle crashes:
* Helmet use among fatally injured motorcyclists below 50 percent
* More motorcyclist fatalities are occurring on rural roads
* High blood alcohol levels are a major problem among motorcycle operators
* Half of the fatalities are related to negotiating a curve prior to the crash
* Over 80 percent of the fatalities occur off roadway
* Undivided roadways account for a majority of the fatalities
* Almost two thirds of the fatalities were associated with speeding as an operator contributing factor in the crash
* Almost 60 percent of motorcyclist fatalities occur at night
* Collision with a fixed object is a significant factor in over half of the fatalities
* Braking and steering maneuvers possibly contribute for almost 25 percent of the fatalities
* More riders age 40 and over are getting killed
* Almost one third of the fatally injured operators did not have a proper license
well i do want a honda sport bike eventually and if it looks like i'm not drunk, taking crazy corners, speeding, and i'm wearing a helmet i should be ok.

I wish we could see this happening from the riders point of view up until impact. He was going WAY to fast at night and probly only had a second to react...I just wonder how he missed a freakin big rig with a billion lights. He must have been stupid speeding down a hilly/twisty highway.
One of my friends rear ended a jeep cherokee, flew threw the rear windshield, out the side window, and into a cornfield. He even survived...his dumbass still rides bikes:shake:

I find it interesting that he made sure to ride with a helmet, jacket with armor and gloves but didn't think to wear any sort of riding pants or proper boots. Denim only lasts a few seconds while sliding on pavement, granted in this case it wouldn't have done anything for him but still.

^^^ From what I have seen on the road, specifically with sport bikes is that the guys that ride them don't seem to think that leather pants are cool. Jacket and jeans seem to be the gear of choice.
