From a layman, the VAFC lets you lower the VTEC crossover pt, even out the hp curve and lean out the a/f ratio. It works better if you have other mods than by itself.

Can it be installed and tuned by myself with little knowledge or should it be installed and tuned by a professional? Do you need to dyno your car as well of proper tuning?

you can install it yourself. you do need a dyno with a wide band O2 sensor to tune it. It took me about 40min to tune mine, and here is my dyno to show before and after dyno tuning with the VAFC

Wow! That looks good...I've actually seen a V-AFC dyno where you almost can't even tell where the VTEC crossover is. You've gained about 25hp and tq over the old VTEC crossover. What other engine mods do you have?

The V-AFC works just as well with a bone stock car. Mods will help improve it. I don't see why everyone likes giving information like this... as long as your increasing the engines efficientcy, you free up the power that the engine can potentially make. If your changing the physical/chemical characteristics, then you make power.

The Prelude handles well with the stock suspension, but putting a better driver behind the wheel will really make a good combination.
Then mod the suspension, and the car will handle even better.

I"m not a believer in it...the way I see it, 5% of the population uses it. The other 95% say that they have the part and let their friends oooh and aaaah over the flashy lights....

Not worth the dough IMO....
