View Full Version : Headlight Bulbs

What bulbs do you Guys recommend for Headlight Bulbs? I want something that looks good when you pull into a parking lot as well as effectiveness. Ive used the Hella HIP bulbs and they were ****e, they were brighter than stock bulbs but they still looked yellowish from outside the car and only lasted 3 months.
The other question I have is about the Peanut bulb inside the Headlight, I think a Blue bulb looks tight but the ones I have keep turning green after a month or two, I think because of the heat, any suggestions?

When I had blue ones, they were fine...the wedge bulbs shold keep their color..in all honesty buy them from Crap Tire cuz they're true blue, not painted, like most aftermarket wedges..

I say go PIAA...H1's suck badly...I hate H1's....:devil:

i've given up on buying any more h1 bulbs,pain in the a$$. If you really wanna buy whiter bulbs. I'd say get the halogen ones and not the xenon gas ones. My halogen ones lasted about 8 months. Can't remember the name. I believe i got them from station 28 at pacific mall. Otherwise go with the PIAA's like james said.

I know. I was talking about aftermarket ones that are whiter than the stock ones...

Those would be the xenons...though you probably won't find them as purple...

I do get my wedge bulbs from crappy tire, those are the ones I'm talking about they keep turning Green after about a month or so.....:(

I work in the parts department there, the bulbs we have come in pairs in a yellow package, I have about 18 pairs sitting in a box in my room, I gotta change the goddamn things everymonth or so because they go from this nice dark blue to this puke green colour? Maybe the ones you get are a different brand?

hey Bill I'll show you mine. I had them on for about one and a half years and they are still blue. I think they are some Japanese brand that I picked up at Pacific Mall.

I am using Hella Optilux Xenon bulbs. Nice and white. They work really well with my JDMs. I think the stock bulbs are a little farther output, but with the fog lights on, I have good visibility.

I am still carrying my stock bulbs in the glovebox just in case.

actually i had those ones...they were halogens..about $75 at station 28...some japanese brand...

just get them at Art Auto in pacific mall..they're less than $10...

I was driving a new Hyundai Elantra last night (long story) and I was shocked how good the lighting system was.

Is there a general consensus that the 5th gen have poor lowbeams, or was it just that the hyundai had really good ones? Would PIAA bulbs help?

Brother in arms...I used to work Crap tire as well...kennedy/steeles..I was there the first day it opened...hahaha...
Man, I feel old all of a sudden.


Pac Mall is in markham technically but it's right on the border of scarlem...

SAVE UP FOR HID hehe..

yeah i know people here think it too much for lights but if u going to spend $75 each time to replace those bulb.. then why don't u save up the money from not buying those cheap stuff..


The way i see it is that in the long run, HID will save you more..

and here is my math..

H1 HID shouldn't cost us more than $600..

Do you think from the time you sell your car would u have gone through 8 replacement pair of the $75 crap?

if so go with HID!!!.. 8x75=600 and u will be riding in RICE style!!

Something that is close to Plug&Play.. K2 most likely cause Speedtech can get those..
