How do you turn off the light? ......

...illuminating from the cd player when off? Emilio mentioned that you can press the MODE button for a few seconds and it will shut off the light within the cd player when its off. Check out the picture below.

However, this is not the case on the SE or 2001 models. Anyone know how?

I forgot to mention that the reason why I wanted to disable the orange light illuminating through the cd is cause I'd like to change the climate control buttons to blue, but it would clash with the orange light from the cd player.

Gary: Yes, I know exactly which thread you're referring to. Too bad we don't have access to that thread anymore. I'd love to adjust the clock, deck, etc. I didn't think that was possible???

Kostas: Yah, I think it'd look so sweet. I was just going to paint the bulb to blue with glass paint. Shant, Mandie and I were going to try and work on this sometime soon, early spring. Maybe we can all set up a day and work on this together.
And you know its not worth it for me to get an aftermarket deck. I never even use the OEM one. So...I might as well just disable the orange light and leave it completely off.

If you look at the harness, (97/98...still the same till '01)
you'll notice "K - Dash light dimmer wire"

Considerin the radio is wired up to the dimmer....Im guessing removing/cutting this wire would disable the light within the OEM Radio.

Ro since you don't even use the cd player I suggest just unplugging. You can also check your owner's manual and it'll tell you how. I press the mode button thing to turn it off too but since yours don't work that way I dunno.

I'd do that, but gotta think of the passengers as well. As for the mode button, there is no such button on my deck. I'll check the owners manual again though for tips.
