To repaint skirts properly (oem skirt or poly-urethraine [sp]), should we sand off the current paint job so that when we re-prime and paint it again, the new paint won't peel off?

Use tremclad, it won't peel, just paint over the paint.

I did it once...

But for your car, I'd suggest sanding, priming then painting in light coats...

would it be better to just buy some sand paper and sand it yourself?? It'd be a lot cheaper then letting the bodyshop do it!

Unless there's some special way. . ..

use only wet sanding if doing it yourself and use a relatively fine grade sand paper. Wet sand are the black ones. Only do a light sanding to get off the wax and dirt basically. Clean it thoroughly, air dry fully, prime dry paint dry paint dry paint dry paint dry, paint dry, clear coat dry clear coat dry clear coat dry blah blah

degrease the skit. and wetsand it to take the gloss off the surface of the paint. This will allow the new paint stick better the the previously painted surface. If the old paint was factory then it's probably bonded to the plastic surface better than you could ever get it if you were to completely strip it donw to the plastic..

In other words - new paint will stick better to the old paint....
