Today I had an eclipse from the states in at the shop I work, anyways he had this coating on the engine, it covered the entire engine bay and made it very clean and shiny, the only way to describe it was like a thick vinyl coating, it made the engine look like it was clear coated. Anybody know what it is, where i can get it done?

That can't be good for performance. It retaines heat.

Im not sure that it would, its not that thick (sorry maybe "thick vinyl coating" was a bad description) it was like someone spray painted the engine with clear coat, then again maybe you right..... even the headers were covered in it, I was surprised it hadn't burned off! I'd still like to find out more

Well given that it was at your shop...you should be able to find out who the owner of the car is right? Why don'tcha ask him? Of course, someone here may know...

The car was imported from the states by a used car dealer, the dealer was getting an imported car inspection so he could register it. I doubt this guy would know anything about it?

I've tried using that stuff in the past, but don't really like it. The carwash/detailing place applied it on my engine.
You can pick up the same stuff at Canadian Tire. It's called Engine Finish.
