Hi forced induction luders... (dirtylude..... et. al.)

I can tell you right now, i'm not too knowledgeable in this. So bear with me if you will... (no flames plz)

If i were to go custom turbo would it eventually cost more than a kit like Greddy?

The idea is, I met a guy who owns a performance shop and he has pretty wicked experience with hondas and turbo. his own car is an 11sec civic. I'd do some research and come up with pieces and stuff, and i'd pay him to do all the work installing and tuning etc.. taking care of fuel issues and the like.

So notwithstanding my lack of knowledge, would this be a good idea for a guy like me or would it be better to go for a pre-fabricated prelude-specific turbo kit (greddy..)?

when talking to some guys, it seems like custom turbo might be actually cheaper than paying the premiums of the "Greddy" label..

A custom kit will be cheaper. It will be cheaper still if you're able to do your own work on the car or have someone who will work on it cheapely. It's best if you have close links to an exhaust shop as well.

If this guy you know can do alluminum welding, than even better :thumbup: I assume he's done custom turbos before, then?

You then have to buy all the stuff, which is the hardest part. It's not too bad if you know where to look and what you're looking for.

yeah this shop does custom welding ... he had made his own custom intake manifold and such, so i assuming he could do custom piping etc...

i wish i had a knowledgeable friend to help me out , picking parts

I can rewrite and update it, though.
I'd add the MaxRev header and Downpipe to the list. I'm trying to get my header/dp custom done. It shouldn't be too expensive, I'll let you know, since you're near Toronto.
