i got me a set of racing seats but the rails are a bit too short and doesn't fit with the stock holes. i have a few options:
1) buy 5G prelude rails from sparco
2) weld some brackets onto the rails
3) try to use my stock lude rails on the new seats
i haven't tried option 3 yet, but i'll attempt that as soon as i get home. anyone have any ideas if it'll work? if not, who has a blowtorch and can help me weld some brackets on? =)
ordering from sparco is my last option...

oh yah, if i just get a metal bracket and screw it to the rail and bolt the other end down to the floor (kinda like a makeshift extension), would there be any safety problems? like, me and the seat flying through the window?

hold...
Maybe you got a 4th gen rail.. I could use that maybe...
As for Rick. I've been waiting for the Corbeau rail for about a 14 months now.. The have a 5th gen one in stock (they sent that one for me erroneously)...

Clayton do us all a favour. After the install could you weigh the stock seats. I'm really interested in finding out how much weight saving is involved besides the obvious other benefits of an aftermarket performance seat.

Since companies usually make the rails for a universal application, aftermarket seatrails won't bolt onto the subframe - since not all subframes are perfectly flush, or the bolt patterns square. Most likely, you'll need to purchase a base to mount the rails.
Recaro and Sparco both require these for Prelude and most Honda applications if the seat is not specific.

Oh, you can modify your existing rail to mount onto the seat by welding method, but I don't recommend it if you ever plan to sell the seat in the future. Honda rails are super expensive to replace too.
A few peaves I have about some aftermarket seats is the twist in the torso section. The seat bolsters may look like they'll hold you in a turn, but the whole seat twists instead - defeating its purpose. Also, the fabric tends to fade on some of the cheaper seats (like Ractive). It'll look pink after a year.

The Corbeau rail is an entire unit that bolts right into the floor...its not universal fit

grant, you have a set of 5th gen rails and i might have a set of 4th gen rails. you have a 4th gen lude and i have a 5th gen lude.
hmmm... interesting :D did you want to see if my rails fit your car and seats? they're about 1.5-2" shorter than what i need.

you know that sounds about right... But my rail is at Ricks.. I'll give him a call and see if it is still there..
Right now Sherman is looking for a Seat specific rail for me.. (I have an OMP) so I'll let you know about the rail....
