Ok Ok I was waiting for oil to drain and I had nothing to do. So I screwed the bolts holding the metal hand in place. Little did I know that I couldn't take the heat shield off. There's this metal line blocking it. One bolt was broken off, other bolt doesn't fit somehow anymore (i think the rust was holding it), so now I have only one bolt holding the heat shield. It's rattling down the street. What am I suppose to do?

The bottom bolt is the one that broke so there's no hole anymore to screw in another bolt. How do I get this damn thing off?!!!

It's made out of very soft material. Can't you just rip it out?

u have to move that AC line that runs just over it, pull back on it and squueze the cover out, it should come out, my buddy removed his that way i think

Don't be removing your AC-Line just try to push it out of the way...

Remember what happend to Vince when he took the rad cap off? If you remove the AC Line the same thing will happen to you except it will be a different colour and you won't be wet afterwards...

That metal is very soft. You can bend it no problem. So since it's holding on one bolt you should be able to rip the sucker out.. I don't think you'll be able to reuse it though...

Why do people remove the heat shield anyway? Does it not serve a purpose? Can the heat from the headers warp your hood?

I don't think it will damage the hood or paint. I've seen people with Mazdas GT's and turbo ford Probes screw up their paint when they took off the heat shield on the turbo. Paint just burned on the hood above the turbo. My buddy had upgraded turbo in his MX-6 and melted the radiator fan frame. But turbo runs much hotter than headers.
I would me more concerned with long term effect on AC/radiator hoses and the fan. Heat shield was put there for purpose and would not remove it unless I had really nice headers :D

I got mine ripped off, but for no reason... Actually that time I was planning to change to the cat-back, somehow I didn't. Anyway, I did that at Speedtech, Andy took that off for me, what I saw was he just unbolted it and tore it out.
