Well guys I reached the final stage of my mods. Gonna put the lude under the knife this week and call it quits in the moding game. Seems that I'm gonna buy a house so I can't afford playing this expensive game anymore. But since The lude was gonna be in the shop for a couple of days I decided to improve the looks a bit. So I gat my hands on my Type S lip and gonna paint the stock side and back. Now here is the problem. Took the lude to the body shop to make araingments. Since it will be in the performance shop we agreed on a lesser fee and I do the uninstal and install and bring the parts to them. They are a Honda dealership and guarentied that the color will match (They got the code and all) They did show som skepticism however.

1) They said they prefer and stay away from painting those parts once the car has left the lot. Simply cause gunk builds up on the surface and aftermarket shine enhancers ruin the base and there is a good possibility of peeling. So we came to an agreement that if that's the case I would be covered from there warenty and that they would do an awsome job and prep it properly. Now my first question is. Should I also go through this process? I mean no one takes care of your car like you do. SO is there some cleaning agent I can get to prep them somewhat myself? Any brands you suggest with strong stuff? Not the Mito solutions please.

2) Now about installing the Type S front lip. Should I try and do a fitment and drill holes befor I take it to the paint shop? Or after? Should I even bother with holes and screws? What about double sided tape? The lip is in my office still in the box and haven't had the time to see if it comes pre drilled (Doubt it) or with any other hardware.

3) I know Moses, 2fast and QuickSilver have done simillar work to there cars. 2 wich store them. How has it held up till now? The fron't lip I'm not worried about cause they said with aftermarket stuff it's no problem. It's the rough surfaces of the sides I'm worried about.

Guys your opinions are well apreciated. Placid cancell all your plans for Sunday evening. Need your help with this guy.

Any body shop has the proper solvent to properly prep the parts to clean them of oil/Armor All etc.

You can just take them the lip and sills and they should be able to paint them for you. You really don't need the car to be there unless you are having paint work on the car. They will prep them for you and put on the proper primer/flex agent and paint.

Hopefully I have answered your question.

I got mine done at Honda. They do very good work!
SInce yours are black there should be no problem matching what so ever.

Taking off the sides is a 5 minute job. THe rear is a pain in the ass. I did it myself I know. There are lots of bolts and clips to take out! But it can be done in 15 min.

The body shop that did them was good. WHen I got them back the first time I was not totally happy! So he did them again for me no charge. In the end I was very happy.
I would not bother drilling holes etc,..

Leave it to the pros to do it. That is why your paying them.
TO put my front lip on they took my front bumper off. You may want this as well. Since two way tape can be hard to laydown if its on the car..

Anyway since your going to a Honda approved shop you should be fine.

Get your warrenty in writing and if you have problems with quality go back. That is what I did!

GOOD luck!

Screw Honda. I just hooked up with Moses today to see his. Holly smokes. I have never seen better quality on any painted plastic parts, it's like as if it was sheetmetal. That's how good the quality is. And the workmanship is proven. He drove his through sand and salt all winter up in the boonies were he lives. hehe. His has been completely shaven down. No riples that the stockers revial. Even better than the SH sides and back. And best of all!!!! He's saving me 300 bucks. Ryan you da man. Next week I do the install once he brings em back. Guys thanks for your responses.

When I was thinking about painting my side & rear sills, I contacted several body shops in the area. I got quotes with the parts unseen. I received quotes from $200 to $400 to do all 3 pieces.

However, once I emailed pictures to the more reputable body shop, he called me and adivsed me that painting the ABS plastic sills would not be a good idea due to the type of material and that the pieces are located in a high wear area.

I know a few of you had gotten this done and have had no problems, but once the professional told me this, I started to second guess myself. So, I bought the oem bodykit pre-painted to ease my mind over saving some cash.

Good luck with whatever decision you may make!

Paul you were so right. The back was a biatch. It took me around 20 mins but it wasn't fun. I think when I do the install I might take off the hole bumper.

Lets just say I thinks we found a new affiliate. Talk to Ryan for details. You'll be shocked at the price. And as I said. Quality and durability isn't an issue. I saw his and was shocked.

Ya Ouzo! Removing the rear sill without taking off the rear bumper was a SOB! I think re-installing it should be a little easier.

Yeah, Ryan hooked me up as well, painted the stock sides and rear (the same time he did his) and the quality is really good.

OUZO, you won't be disappointed !

Guy I can't wait tll this weekend till he drops em off. I took the car to RT today. While I was driving there it felt naked. My lude was exposed.
