Wow the comercial say up to 20hp??? LMAO so that means I have 155hp from 135 pretty good, when I dropped mine in I felt like I lost power, go figure oh well bout to be more ghetto today and add a dryer hose to make a custom C.A.I. until I relocate my battery to put a AEM in.
Oh yeah anyone one see the tornado thing you put in your intake and increases horsepower too? that stuff makes me laugh. If these things were all true we wouldn't need turbos or superchargers because 200hp could be easily bolted on or put in your oil and fuel systems
No kidding! I basically had a mini argument with a friend on the phone when he was so excited that he got the K&N filter. He was saying he read this on a website and it says this and that. I told him max expect 1 hp with a conditioned filter. He was really pissed hehehe.

Ah yes, the 2 staples of the infomercial marketing strategy.
"Up to" ie. 20% better - could mean 0% percent...
"a fraction of" - could be virtually 100%. Or even over 100% - ever heard of an improper or mixed fraction?

I still like to use the K&N filters since they are well made, increases air flow and can be cleaned. I'm not worried about obtaining more hp from an air filter but I do like getting better air flow into my engine.
I think the stock air box with a K&N filter would work just as good as an aftermarket CAI. It's just my opinion!

I think the same D-man, but its probably not as good but good enough. As long as The sound is there I'll be happy! hehe;)

If you want the sound, removing the resonator would probably suffice! Mental note: remove resonator this spring!!!!!

If money is an issue removing the resonator is the way to go. Thats what I did. Then went with the AEM CAI. The sound is different however. CAI makes more lowend and high end. And the CAI makes that sweet cough/hisss sound at idle and when you step on the gas.But hell you can't beat a free mod now can you.

Intakes usually take away some low end and give more high end.
Removing the resonator will loose low end for ya.
If you want that cool sound just remove the little rubber grommet from the bottom ofls the stock airbox to the air port. A LOT quicker than removing the resonator.

BTW I was refering to sound not performance.

Derek! What is the bottom ofls the stock airbox to the air port? If removed, will this decrease the seal of air to that air box?

Hey Derek Tell us more about that removal!
I drove in sashes car last week and did not notice any difference in torque. I mean what is 2 ft pounds of torque below 3K going to do anyway! hehe
If you take out the resonator there is this little pipe that is below the filter. I assume that is the part that your talking about right? I guess it would stay if the Resonator was pulled out.
Thanks for the help!
